About Sandi Smith PT
Transforming Lives Through Pelvic Health Physical Therapy
I grew up in Orlando and am an alumni of Bishop Moore Catholic High School. I graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1993.
My area of expertise is in treating patients with pelvic floor dysfunction. I have combined my extensive knowledge and training in orthopedic manual therapy with an expanded focus in the specialty of pelvic health.
This unique niche provides the perfect opportunity to make significant changes in the lives of my patients. It is personal and private. I provide space for my patients to be in a safe no judgment zone. I encourage open dialog with the idea that there is no such thing as too much information.
I have a huge passion and a big heart for my patients. I wake up everyday hoping I can make someone’s life a little easier.
When I am not seeing patients, I can be found spending time with family and friends. I practice Yoga, power walk, paddle board, lift weights, have a Pilates reformer and play disc golf. I look forward to helping you find that natural healer within. Together we can discover the solutions you are looking for to promote health and healing

I felt like Sandi gave me my life back. I loved all the baby steps, clear instructions, and variety of assignments/exercises provided. They were easy to follow and very helpful. The breathing exercises and just getting acquainted with my own body were the easiest for me as they didn’t cause any pain or anxiety. No other treatments worked or worked on their own without pelvic PT. I started to see results immediately in even just the reduction of pain with sitting and wearing jeans.
This treatment plan was life changing for me. It has enhanced my sex life, boosted my self confidence and generally improved my health. I have less stress incontinence, which was an added bonus! I had very open conversations with Sandi and shared extremely intimate details about myself and my sex life. This helped us develop the best treatment plan for me. Don’t keep this treatment a secret! I was so excited about this treatment and the amazing results that I spoke with my girlfriends about it. I found out one had already gone through this type of treatment and another was in need of the treatment. This is too good to keep to yourself!

The first appointment with Sandi was more of a get-to-know, which was good because we ended up spending a lot of fairly intimate time together. We talked about my symptoms and when they started occurring. I was also given the option whether to have an initial exam to find the location(s) causing me pain. It was eye opening to feel the different muscles almost individually, especially after seeing the diagrams of the pelvic floor for the first time. After my painful area was pin-pointed, I had weekly pelvic floor massages that would aim to essentially massage the painful area, kind of like a typical massage removing muscle knots. And during those massages we would talk a lot, it almost acted as a therapy session for me too. Together we figured out the root cause of my pain, which was the stress I had put on myself both academically and at work throughout the years. The stress caused me to clinch my pelvic floor muscles without me ever realizing I was doing it. Compounding that tension over the years led to the pain in the pelvic floor, which was only noticeable during intercourse. In hindsight, it makes a lot of sense, and now I do recognize and feel my pelvic floor tensing up when I’m stressed. I’m glad I had an understanding gynecologist that pointed me to pelvic floor therapy, and am extremely grateful that I had a caring, kind, and knowledgeable pelvic floor therapist, like Sandi, that I could trust. She helped me figure out the cause of my issues and gave me the tools and knowledge I needed to no longer have painful sex.
This program works. Pelvic floor therapy works. I do believe I was so successful because I had such an amazing therapist who believed in me, was so knowledgeable as well as kind and gave me tough love when I needed it. The first manual assessment she gave, I could barely tolerate. It brought me to tears for a number of reasons; physically, emotionally and psychologically. A year later I can use tampons, have gynecology exams, and continue to have pain free sex.
